Organizations Filed Purposes: To promote excellence and equity in education to achieve social justice.

Provide direct services in increasing literacy of families and students from low-income, culturally diverse school districts and communities; provide systemic frameworks and strategies to increase family engagement at the state and local levels; and provide professional learning opportunities for educators to increase their understanding and skills to work more effectively with culturally diverse families.

MAEC's educational equity projects examine and address systemic policies and practices, school climate, student access to support for rigorous curriculum, family engagement, and teaching and learning. MAEC facilitates this process by reviewing the cultural, structural, and material dimensions necessary for making transformational change. We provide technical assistance, professional learning, and tools necessary to operationalize equity into practice.

MAECs family engagement project focuses on high impact culturally responsive family engagement by building partnerships among schools, parents, and community organizations to improve the development and academic achievement of all students. By increasing opportunities for a shared responsibility between schools and families, there is a greater likelihood of student success and well-being.

MAEC's youth leadership development projects focus on increased graduation rates, academics, enrichment, character education, college/career readiness, STEM, and mentorship. These after-school programs enable youth to work collaboratively with families, school staff, and community leaders to increase academic achievement and address challenges they face in their daily lives. Youth participate in project-based learning, mentorship opportunities, and civic engagement to provide a platform for their concerns and highlight solutions within the communities they reside.
