Organizations Filed Purposes:
Responsibly provide high-touch support for wounded, ill, and injured American service members and their families and caregivers to fill gaps throughout recovery and reintegration to home communities, through an engaged national network.
Offer supplemental assistance to wounded, ill and injured service members, their families, and caregivers that bridges the gap between their needs and earned benefits, enabling families to stay together during critical recuperation phases.
Crossroads Program: provides housing and transportation to families of wounded, ill, and injured post 9/11 service members receiving extended medical care and/or rehabilitation at local military or Veterans Administration hospitals in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. YRF provides free rental cars, hotel stays, and fully-furnished apartments to keep families together during extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Keystone Program: From its beginning, YRF has paid special attention to the needs of military caregivers. Through this program, YRF provides military caregivers sanctuary, skills, and stability through monthly respite and social events, and educational and life skills training. The Keystone Program also works with donors to provide retreats to caregivers to provide a break from their caregiving duties, to provide training and life skills, to encourage wellness, and to provide bonding and networking with those in similar circumstances.
Engagement Program: YRF engages patients recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda MD and helps them escape from the monotony of hospital life by hosting on-base events like holiday parties and barbecues and off-base activities such as trips to local sporting and cultural events in the Washington, DC area. YRF also provides care packages and gift cards to help relieve financial burden.
