Organizations Filed Purposes: BIOQUEST IS AN EDUCATION ORGANIZATION FOCUSED ON PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR COLLEGE FACULTY.

QUBES: Development and implementation of the qubes project qubeshub.org to improve quantitative biology education at the undergraduate level. Quantitative skills are critical to student success in modern biology, as well as a basic 21st century skill for workforce preparation. The qubes project launched in 2015 and is a collaboration between bioquest and five academic institutions. The project provides professional development for faculty, resources and community networks to provide faculty with tools and support to improve students quantitative biology skills, and provides these services primarily in a virtual setting on the qubeshub site. Bioquest focuses on the professional development aspects of the program including providing an annual summer workshop. This workshop provides in person opportunities for networking and professional development.

ATE: This award supports a professional development conference, Opening the Pathway to Technician Careers: A Conference for Biology Teachers of Deaf Students offered by the NSF Advanced Technology Education ATE national center, DeafTEC: Technological Education Center for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students, and BioQUEST. The workshop will bring together high school teachers, community college biology faculty, and American Sign Language ASL interpreters to improve biology education for deaf and hard-of-hearing deaf/hh students.

QB@CC:This 5 year award supports the the advancement of quantitative skills in biology and mathematics students at 2 year colleges.The project focuses on the formation of a community of mathematics and biology faculty to develop and implement quantitative biology education resources.Funds support community meetings, travel to conferences to share resources, planning meetings for the steering committee and advisory board, and limited support for the principal investigators on the grant.Funds are allocated to support participant travel to meetings, and stipends for curriculum development.Subcontracts support meeting hosting, hosting the website on QUBESHub, QUBES staff support for the project, and the project evaluation.
