Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide our wounded/recovering service members from local military hospitals & treatment centers a chance to get away, relax,and have fun experiences with their families away from the hospital/clinic.
Events & day trips for residents of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home: Various day trips and events to entertain residents such as to local nature and historical parks, to attend a local Veteran's Day Parade, Christmas Party, Valentines dinner outting, etc.
For recovering service members from Ft. Belvoir, Walter Reed and other local VA hospitals/centers: -3 weekend retreats at Camp Maria with their spouses & children that included activities such as boating, kayaking, swiming, fly fishing instructors, Search & Rescue K9 team demos, 4H Crazy Critters, etc. In addition, V4V provided a Christmas party for needy veteran families. In 2019, V4V served 119 service members and 152 family members
Various FUNdraising events that promote awareness of V4V mission. Our largest FUN event is the Annual Poker Run. Many veterans, service members, and others participate and look forward to this event each year. We set up 5 stops at various businesses around the county. Players pay a fee to participate. Players ride to each stop to collect one card to build their hand. Once they have a full hand, they return to the event, play their hand & enjoy fellowship. Potential sponsors are mailed letters and are offered advertising based on the size of their donations. Players are provided lunch and a T-shirt. Raffels and an auction are also conducted.
