Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF THE NATIONAL CONSORTIUM OF SECONDARY STEM SCHOOLS, THE NATION'S FOREMOST ALLIANCE OF SCHOOLS DEDICATED TO TRANSFORMING MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION, IS TO CREATE SYNERGIES AMONG SCHOOLS ENGAGED IN EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION BY SHAPING NATIONAL POLICY, FOSTERING COLLABORATION AND DEVELOPING, TESTING, IMPLEMENTING, AND DISSEMINATING EXEMPLARY PROGRAMS.
THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE CONSORTIUM IS TO DEVELOP AND IMPROVE INSTRUCTION FOR HIGH SCHOOL-AGED STUDENTS WITH AN EMPHASIS ON STUDENTS AND PROGRAMS IN SPECIALIZED HIGH SCHOOLS THAT PROVIDE ADVANCED INSTRUCTION IN MATH, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY. THE TARGET AUDIENCE OF THE CONSORTIUM IS ALL HIGH SCHOOLS, RESIDENTIAL AND NON-RESIDENTIAL, WITH SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS IN MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY. ALSO, THE CONSORTIUM HAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE JOINT PROGRAMS WITH COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS INTERESTED IN MST INITIATIVES.
PROGRAMS/GOALSPROFESSIONAL CONFERENCE - TO ALLOW EDUCATORS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES FOR WORKING WITH HIGH ABILITY STUDENTS IN MATH, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY. STUDENT RESEARCH CONFERENCE - TO HELP STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO DO AUTHENTIC RESEARCH.MEMBERSHIP - INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO THOSE SECONDARY SCHOOLS THAT MEET RUBRIC CRITERIA. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP IS AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO NEED MORE TIME TO DO SO. AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO COLLEGES AND OTHERS. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS MANY BENEFITS TO FURTHER THE EFFICACY OF ITS MEMBERSHIP.NEWSLETTER-PUBLISHED MONTHLY TO GUIDE MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS ON ACTIVITIES OF NCSSS.STEM EDGE (PUBLISHED QUARTERLY) - THE ELECTRONIC MAGAZINE PUBLISHES ARTICLES WRITTEN BY MEMBERS' FACULTY AND STAFF. WEBSITE (NCSSS.ORG) - TO HELP ALL OF NCSSS'S CONSTITUENCIES LEARN ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND ITS OFFERINGS.
