DISASTER RESPONSE - ACSNA OPERATES WITH A STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA), THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AND MANY STATES EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES. ACSNA IS ALSO A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE INTER-AGENCY COMPACT CALLED NATIONAL VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN DISASTER (NVOAD) AND AFFILIATED STATE VOAD'S. ACS DISASTER RESPONSE (ACS DR) OPERATIONS UTILIZE VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF FROM SEVERAL CHURCH LEVELS. IT HELPS DISASTER SURVIVORS THROUGH COMMUNITY COLLECTION CENTERS, MULTI-AGENCY WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS, EMERGENCY DISTRIBUTION CENTERS, MOBILE DISTRIBUTION UNITS AND REGIONALLY COORDINATED SERVICES APPROVED BY DIVISION HEADQUARTERS. ACSDR OFFERS MULTI-STEP TRAINING TO EQUIP VOLUNTEERS TO EFFECTIVELY RESPOND TO DISASTERS. THIS INVOLVES ORIENTATION, BASIC PROCEDURES FOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND EMOTIONAL & SPIRITUAL CARE. IN 2019, ACSNA WAS ACTIVE IN RELIEF EFFORTS RELATING TO HURRICANES AND FLOODS IN SOUTH CAROLINA, FLORIDA, AND ARKANSAS.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT/URBAN MINISTRY - ACSNA HAS CONDUCTED SEVERAL ACS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUMS: 1. NON-PROFIT LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NLCP. NLCP IS DESIGNED TO EQUIP PASTORS AND CHURCH MEMBERS WITH STRATEGIES AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO SUCCESSFULLY LEAD. IT FOCUSES ON THREE MAJOR LEARNING OUTCOMES: A) MANAGERIAL SKILLS, B) LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND C) BIBLICAL CONCEPTS OF HOLISTIC MINISTRY. 2. COMMUNITY SERVICES AND URBAN MINISTRY CERTIFICATION PROGRAM. IT CONTAINS 15 MODULES WHICH INSTRUCTOR ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD CAN ADOPT AND PRESENT TO LOCALS WHO DESIRE TO BE BETTER EQUIPPED TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE MODULES ARE WRITTEN BY A VARIETY OF AUTHORS, AND PRESENTED IN A VARIETY OF STYLES AND FORMATS. THIS PROGRAM WAS TRANSCRIBED IN THREE MORE LANGUAGES, PORTUGUESE, FRENCH, AND SPANISH.
EMOTIONAL & SPIRITUAL CARE EQUIPS AND DEPLOYS CERTIFIED VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE THE EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS TRAUMATIZED BY DISASTERS AND OTHER INCIDENTS. EDUCATION COURSES WERE CONDUCTED TO EQUIP THE VOLUNTEERS TO MINISTER TO THE NEEDS OF SURVIVORS FROM DISASTERS AND TRAUMATIC EVENTS. FOR EXAMPLE SURVIVORS OF THE HURRICANES AND FLOODS THAT LOST HOMES, FAMILY, AND BASIC NEEDS FOR EVERYDAY LIVING.
