THIS FIVE DAY EVENT OFFERS SURGEONS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR HANDS-ON TRAINING IN THE LATEST TECHNIQUES. THERE ARE PRESENTATIONS BY EXPERTS AND SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS HIGHLIGHTING ADVANCES IN RESEARCH. THE MEETING SERVES AS A FORUM FOR MEMBERS TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND GAIN EXPOSURE TO NEW TECHNOLOGIES.
MASTERY OF BREAST SURGERY PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM IS A VOLUNTARY QUALITY IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE THAT CONTAINS MODULES ON SURGERY, RISK ASSESSMENT, CANCER STAGING AND PERCUTANEOUS PROCEDURES. IT ALLOWS PARTICIPANTS TO TRACK AND COMPARE PERFORMANCE DATA PROVIDING VALUABLE INFORMATION FOR SELF ASSESSMENT. ADDITIONALLY, THE PROGRAM IS RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN BOARD OF SURGERY AS FULFILLING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE OF CERTIFICATION AND IS A CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES 2018 QUALIFIED PHYSICIAN QUALITY REPORTING SYSTEM REGISTRY.
CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION: THE SOCIETY OFFERS CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION IN BREAST ULTRASOUND AND STEREOTACTIC BREAST BIOPSY PROCEDURES. CERTIFICATION DEMONSTRATES AN INDIVIDUAL SURGEON'S DEDICATION TO QUALITY PATIENT CARE AND PUBLIC SAFETY THROUGH ADHERENCE TO ESTABLISHED STANDARDS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THESE PROCEDURES. THE PROGRAM OFFERS A MEANS OF RECOGNITION TO INDIVIDUAL SURGEONS WHO MEET CRITERIA IN THE AREAS OF CLINICAL EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND QUALITY ASSURANCE. ACCREDITATION IS DESIGNED TO ENSURE THAT FACILITIES HAVE MET THE APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS REGARDING PERSONNEL (PHYSICIANS, ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGISTS, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, AND NURSES), EQUIPMENT, QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAMS, AND ACCURACY OF EXAMINATIONS AND PROCEDURES BEING PERFORMED.
