YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SOURCE (YES) IS A NON-PROFIT AGENCY DEDICATED TO PROVIDING CRITICAL SUPPORTS TO CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN THE MID ATLANTIC REGION. WITH A STRONG FOCUS ON PREVENTION AND EDUCATION, YES EQUIPS YOUTH AND FAMILIES WITH THE TOOLS YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO REACH SUCCESSFUL ADULTHOOD.
MARYLAND STRATEGIC PREVENTION FRAMEWORK (MSPF) - THE MSPF COALITION TO REDUCE UNDERAGE DRINKING CONTINUED TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF BARTENDERS AND MANAGERS TRAINED IN RESPONSIBLE BEVERAGE SERVICE TO MORE THAN 1,000 IN FISCAL YEAR 2020. WE ALSO CONTINUED PROVIDING OVER SERVICE COMPLIANCE CHECKS TO REDUCE BINGE DRINKING. A TEAM OF LIQUOR CONTROL AGENTS AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WERE TRAINED IN OVER SERVICE COMPLIANCE AND PROVIDED OVER SERVICE PATROLS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
CHILDREN OF INCARCERATED PARENTS (COIP) - COIP IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO CHILDREN 5-17 WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE EFFECTS OF PARENTAL INCARCERATION AND USES CASE MANAGEMENT, INCLUDING LIFE SKILLS TRAINING AND MEDIATION, TO STRENGTHEN FAMILIES DEALING WITH THE IMPACTS OF INCARCERATION. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2020, 54 YOUTH WERE SERVED AND 45 LIFESKILLS SESSIONS WERE OFFERED. 100% OF STUDENTS SHOWED AN INCREASE IN LIFE SKILLS AS EVIDENCED BY A YEAR END SURVEY.
DISCONNECTED YOUTH - ASSISTS YOUTH BETWEEN THE AGE OF 16 AND 24 YEARS OLD WHO HAVE NOT GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL OR GRADUATED AND ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND AND SUSTAIN EMPLOYMENT. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE PROVIDED GED ASSISTANCE, TRANSITIONAL LIFE SKILLS LESSONS, SOFT JOB SKILLS, A PAID INTERNSHIP, AND VARIOUS OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE THEIR FUTURE. DURING 2020, 38 YOUTH WERE SERVED, 8 COMPLETED JOB SKILLS TRAINING CLASSES, 30 ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN GED CLASSES, 11 ARE FULLY EMPLOYED, AND 9 PASSED THE GED EXAM. IN ADDITION, 78% OF CLIENTS EVIDENCED AN INCREASE IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION SKILLS. 8 CLIENTS COMPLETED JOB INTERNSHIPS.
