Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Unforgotten provides humanitarian relief in developing countries. In 2019, we had ongoing projects in Zambia (Sub-Saharan Africa), India and, Sierra Leone (West Africa). We provided aid to wastepickers (Sierra Leone/Zambia) and to orphans (India). We are an active member of the United Nations Association's Council of Organizations, and are planning to provide humanitarian relief in UN Field Operations -- in particular to refugees -- in future years.
Supporting primary schooling of children in Zambia, Sierra Leone and India. Throughout 2019, The Unforgotten provided financial support to 30 children in Lusaka, Zambia and 43 children in Freetown, Sierra Leone. These children were previously not attending school and instead were living on landfills, looking through the waste for food to eat and items to sell, earning about 50 cents per day. The Unforgotten enrolled these former wastepickers in school, paid their school fees, provided them with uniforms and school supplies. We also provide the children with extra tutoring. As of December 2019, our aid to these children has been very successful. All of the children are progressing through school and their academic performance has been commendable. The children have not returned to the landfill in order to eat and earn a few cents, but have instead focused on their studies. The mothers have been very supportive of the children's education and grateful for the aid. In India, we provided backpacks and food for orphanages in Shimla, India.
