Campaign for American RenewalWorking with US Citizen Diaspora GroupsA total of 5 separate meetings were organized by the USA team during 2016 that brought together over 50 representatives of different diaspora groups. The premise for meeting with these groups is based on the point that many diaspora groups come to the US clinging firmly to strong faith and family values and thus this is transferred demonstrated behaviour in daily life in America.Clearly, a foundation of interest was established among the groups where now GPF-USA can bring the different diaspora groups together to pursue a strategy of working collectively toward revitalizing the underlying principles and values that are at the root of America. First Amendment Voice Alliance Developed comprehensive content on the First Amendment to provide 4-hour Train the Trainer Forums. (7) seven Train the Trainer sessions where held with a minimum of 15 clergy and faith leaders participating in each. A total of 105 clergy where trained. 104 surveys where received after the training sessions.Created a free membership platform to grow the FAV base. As a result, (82) eighty-two new member organizations signed on. In addition, (4) Universities have been identified and relationships are under development. As a result, (3) Three campus hosted events have been scheduled within the first (3) months of 2017. Through an effort to generate awareness around First Amendment education and current issues, FAV principals have been invited to participate as presenters and speakers at (5) five different events. i.e., Douglass Leadership Institute Hampton University Forum; Korean Churches for Community Development (KCCD) annual Conference in Washington, DC; LIBRE conferences in Florida and Las Vegas; and a forum at the University of Arizona. In each case, the organizers had participated in FAV trainings and thus recognized the significant value that FAV would bring to their respective assembled constituents. FAV has been researching issues and policies that have the potential to negatively impact the guarantees of the First Amendment. Through this research, FAV identified the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) issue of a damaging report against the freedom of religion. As a result, a rebuttal has been drafted and published by FAV. We have engaged the office of Congressman John Lewis who has used their office to request and received background information on behalf of FAV. OutcomesAs a direct result from all areas of output, our surveys recognized that an overwhelming 96% of participants in the Train the trainer sessions received education & awareness on First Amendment for the first time. The survey results also demonstrated from the trainings, 100% of the participants found the training effective & 89% believed they were at least moderately prepared to inform and educate others as a result of the training. As the trainings progressed, 71% of the new trainings where hosted and co-convened by previous participants. We have seen a dramatic increase in awareness and discussion across our social media platforms as individuals identify and share potential attacks or challenges against the First Amendment.
