Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to develop and implement programs for youth to excel in academics, the arts and social development. Through in school, after school, and summer programming, professional development, creative workshops and assemblies, parent engagement and 1:1 arts support, LTYC makes the arts accessible to under-served youth and communities who may not otherwise have access. We encourage the youth to use their gifts and strength to promote success in their lives.
The organization's growth is a result of meeting an instruction and programming gap in arts education where schools need it most. LTYC is making an impact in delivering arts instruction that transfers into increased academic performance and positive youth development as opportunities for exposure to the arts. The program addresses the need for arts integrated lessons and classes that teach knowledge and skills to students that would not traditionally have regular opportunities to gain exposure in the arts. The Enrichment Program has six primary content areas: Vocal/Instrumental Music, Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, Creative Writing and Media Arts. Using the ARTS CORE (Achieving Results by Transforming Students through Creative Open Reflective Expression) as a framework, the Enrichment program functions to actualize the LTYC commitment to nurture positive social development, academic success, and creativity in the minds of youth today. LTYC teaches youth the fundamentals of leadership and to use their gifts and strengths to promote success and balance in their lives. Correspondingly, each content area has a set of instructional, learning and behavior outcomes, which adhere to the Common Core Standards and National Core Arts Standards that support student performance and academic achievement.
