BENEDICTINE IS ONE OF THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE PROVIDERS OF SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL & INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AND AUTISM. WE OFFER A YEAR-ROUND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AND 365 DAY RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS AGES 5-21. OUR STUDENTS COME FROM THROUGHOUT MARYLAND, AS WELL AS ADJOINING STATES. BENEDICTINE'S ADULT PROGRAM PROVIDES COMMUNITY LIVING, MEANINGFUL DAY, AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ON THE EASTERN SHORE AND ANNAPOLIS.
ADULT SERVICES: SINCE 1982, BENEDICTINE'S ADULT SERVICES PROGRAM HAS SUPPORTED COMMUNITY LIVING, EMPLOYMENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOR ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. LICENSED/APPROVED BY THE MARYLAND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ADMINISTRATION (DDA) UNDER THE COMMUNITY PATHWAYS, FAMILY SUPPORTS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORTS WAIVERS, BENEDICTINE IS PROUD TO CARRY ON A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE BASED ON THE BELIEF IN THE DIGNITY OF ALL PEOPLE. AT BENEDICTINE WE FOLLOW A PERSON CENTERED APPROACH TO HELP EMPOWER THE PEOPLE WE SUPPORT IN ACHIEVING THEIR GREATEST POTENTIAL. THE COMMUNITY LIVING PROGRAM ASSISTS ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN HOMES AND APARTMENTS IN CAROLINE AND TALBOT COUNTIES AND ANNAPOLIS. MEANINGFUL DAY SERVICES, OPERATED OUT OF OUR RIDGELY AND EASTON LOCATIONS, OFFERS PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY FIND AND SUSTAIN EMPLOYMENT, DEVELOP CAREERS, AND ENGAGE IN OTHER ACTIVITIES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THESE SERVICES FOCUS ON DISCOVERING INTERESTS, BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS, AND PROMOTING SKILL DEVELOPMENT. SUPPORTS ARE INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED WITH THE BELIEF THAT ALL INDIVIDUALS, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITIES, CAN BE PRODUCTIVE AND ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES.
STUDENT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES: OUR SCHOOL RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN A CONTINUUM OF SETTINGS INCLUDING CAMPUS RESIDENTIAL SUITES AND COMMUNITY BASED GROUP HOMES. ALL STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED GUIDANCE IN THE AREAS OF SELF-CARE, HOME LIFE SKILLS, RECREATION AND LEISURE, AND SOCIAL SKILLS. COORDINATION OF SERVICES FROM SCHOOL TO OUR RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM PROVIDES CONSISTENCY AND 24/7 REINFORCEMENT AND APPLICATION OF KEY SKILLS, LEARNING AND BEHAVIOR OBJECTIVES. STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM THE SUPPORTIVE AND INTEGRATED SERVICES PROVIDED BY OUR CLINICAL TEAM IN BOTH OUR EDUCATIONAL AND RESIDENTIAL SETTINGS. OUR PROFESSIONALS COLLABORATE WITH THE ENTIRE TEAM TO BEST UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF EACH STUDENT AND DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO HELP STUDENTS THRIVE. FAMILY INVOLVEMENT IS ENCOURAGED THROUGH PHONE CALLS, MAIL, VIDEO CALLS, AND VISITS. RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMMING IS OFFERED UP TO 365 DAYS A YEAR. BENEDICTINE IS AN APPROVED PROVIDER OF AUTISM WAIVER RESIDENTIAL HABILITATION SERVICES.
SPECIAL EDUCATION: OUR SCHOOL OFFERS A YEAR-ROUND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL & INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AND AUTISM AGES 5-21. WE BELIEVE EACH STUDENT'S GREATEST POTENTIAL IS ACHIEVED THROUGH A COLLABORATIVE, HOLISTIC TEAM APPROACH BUILDING ON THE ABILITIES, STRENGTHS AND INTERESTS OF EACH CHILD. EACH STUDENT'S UNIQUE NEEDS ARE MET WITH HIGH STAFF TO STUDENT RATIOS AND A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH USING RESEARCH-BASED METHODS AND TECHNIQUES IMPLEMENTING MSDE APPROVED CURRICULUM. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING IS HIGHLY INDIVIDUALIZED WITH STUDENTS PLACED IN ONE OF OUR THREE SIGNATURE CLASSES: FUNCTIONAL ACADEMICS, ACADEMIC & BEHAVIOR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT, AND TOTAL COMMUNICATIONS. CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION ARE ALIGNED WITH THE MARYLAND COLLEGE AND CAREER-READY STANDARDS. STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO MULTIPLE CAMPUS-BASED AND COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL AS ACCESS TO JOB COACHING AND ASSESSMENTS THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF REHABILITATION SERVICES.
