Provide the support that empowers South Asian women to become self-reliant and live in abuse free environment.
ASHA for Women Program: ASHA for Women program was created in response to the needs of South Asian women who often fell through unintentional cracks in the domestic violence service delivery system. In addition to being stopped by their abusers from seeking services, South Asian victims often faced other challenges, such as difficulties with their immigration status, language and cultural barriers, and a lack of awareness of the legal recourse available to them. ASHA for Women program has been providing volunteer-run, community-based, culturally-competent services within the Washington metropolitan area to South Asian women and their children experiencing domestic violence. By being positioned deep within the local South Asian community, ASHA for Women program is uniquely able to devote the significant resources painstakingly earned over the years to promote social change. Since October 2018, ASHA has extended its reach to help vulnerable group - South Asian seniors and their caregivers. The objective is to guide them to access benefits and services for health and well-being.
