Organizations Filed Purposes:
MARCH ON MARYLAND EXISTS TO INCREASE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, CHAMPION FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS, AND AMPLIFY THE VOICES OF THE UNDERREPRESENTED, MARGINALIZED, AND OPPRESSED IN ORDER TO EMPLOWER AND SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITIES.
Locally, we organized Annapolis 4th Annual Womens Unity March, which drew several hundred people to the Maryland capital to hear speakers from marginalized communities and march for equal justice for all. We partnered with a myriad of BIPOC-led grassroots organizations and assisted in tens of events focused on civic engagement and rallies concerning racial and climate justice. This included: several events to protest the detention of asylum-seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border, organized in partnership with organizations like CASA, Centro de Ayuda, and Jews United For Justice; and the installation of the first lynching memorial marker in Maryland, an initiative led by local organization Connecting the Dots. Nationally, we raised over a million dollars for our various fiscal projects. We also supported the planning of the national September 20 Climate Strikes organized by Future Coalition, the youth arm of our partner March On.
