IN 2019, PEACE ACTION FOCUSED GRASSROOTS PRESSURE ON CONGRESS AND THE ADMINISTRATION THROUGH A SERIES OF MAIL, PHONE AND EMAIL ALERTS TO PEACE ACTION MEMBERS AND CHAPTERS TO BLOCK EFFORTS TO REIMPOSE SANCTIONS AND TAKE THREATENING ACTIONS AGAINST IRAN THAT COULD SPARK A WAR. THE WAR ON YEMEN: THE WAR ON YEMEN, WHERE A U.S. BACKED COALITION, LED BY SAUDI ARABIA, EXECUTES A RUTHLESS BOMBING CAMPAIGN HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS AND OTHER CIVILIAN TARGETS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED. PEACE ACTION WORKED TO BLOCK ARMS SALES AND MILITARY AID TO SAUDI ARABIA AND ITS ALLIES. PEACE ACTION LED A NATIONALLY COORDINATED GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN THAT SECURED PASSAGE IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE OF LEGISLATION DIRECTING THE PRESIDENT TO END U.S. SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATION IN THE SAUDI-LED WAR. BUDGET PRIORITIES: PEACE ACTION CONTINUED ITS SUPPORT OF THE PEOPLE'S BUDGET, A BUDGET ALTERNATIVE OFFERED BY THE CONGRESSIONAL PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS. PEACE ACTION ORGANIZED SEVERAL CALLING AND EMAIL CAMPAIGNS AROUND KEY VOTES IN CONGRESS ON MILITARY BUDGET ISSUES AND GENERATED HUNDREDS OF NEWS ARTICLES AND LETTERS TO THE EDITOR IN LOCAL PRESS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AROUND ITS PEOPLE'S BUDGET CAMPAIGN. IN 2019, PEACE ACTION CHAPTERS AND MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN TAX DAY ACTIONS ACROSS THE US AS PART OF THE GLOBAL DAYS OF ACTION ON MILITARY SPENDING. PEACE ACTION SUPPORTED BILLS IN BOTH THE HOUSE AND SENATE.
