RECRUITMENT, TRAINING, AND JOB PLACEMENT OF SENIORS
SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SCSEP):SCSEP IS A COMMUNITY SERVICE AND WORK-BASED JOB TRAINING PROGRAM FOR OLDER AMERICANS. AUTHORIZED BY THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT AND ADMINISTERED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, SCSEP PARTICIPANTS GAIN WORK EXPERIENCE IN A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES AT NON-PROFIT AND PUBLIC AGENCIES, INCLUDING SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, DAY-CARE CENTERS, AND SENIOR CENTERS. SSAI IS A NATIONAL GRANTEE WHO DELIVERS THE SCSEP PROGRAM THROUGH A COMBINATION OF DIRECT SERVICE AND SUB-GRANTEE PARTNERS IN 13 STATES. APPROXIMATELY 6,637 AND 6,776 ENROLLEES WERE SERVED DURING THE YEARS ENDED JUNE 30, 2019 AND 2018, RESPECTIVELY. BEGINNING IN 2019, FOR THE STATES OF CALIFORNIA, NORTH CAROLINA AND WYOMING, SSAI IS A SUBRECIPIENT AND FUNDING WAS PROVIDED BY DOL THROUGH THE RESPECTIVE DESIGNATED STATE AGENCY. FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2019, SSAI SERVED 32, 49 AND 75 EXPERIENCED JOB SEEKERS IN THOSE STATES, RESPECTIVELY.
SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SEE):THE SEE PROGRAM PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORKERS 55 YEARS AND OLDER TO ASSIST THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (EPA) ON VARIOUS FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS, INCLUDING POLLUTION PREVENTION, ABATEMENT, AND CONTROL. SSAI ADMINISTERS ITS SEE PROGRAM AS ONE OF FIVE NATIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT WERE SELECTED BY THE EPA BASED ON THOSE NONPROFITS' EXPERIENCE ADMINISTERING THE SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM. FOR THE YEARS ENDED JUNE 30, 2019 AND 2018, THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 229 ENROLLEES IN THE PROGRAM WHO WORKED AT VARIOUS EPA REGIONAL OFFICES IN 16 STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, AND PUERTO RICO.
FOREST EXPERIENCED SERVICES (ACF):THIS PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY SERVICE. THERE ARE 16 ENROLLEES WORKING IN FOREST SERVICES IN 12 DIFFERENT STATES.
