Organizations Filed Purposes:
SGAP Leaders equips curious and motivated teens to be 21st century critical thinkers, problem solvers and global leaders. We provide direct exposure and experiential learning to students through company and organization visits, sustainability and STEM cases and design thinking challenges throughout the academic year. As a result, our challenging program improves students' leadership and problem solving skills and empowers them to be high-performing individuals, sought after by universities and employers.
SGAP Leaders serves middle and high school students through our custom designed programs in STEM, sustainability and social justice. Our programs challenge our students to think critically, solve real-world problems collaboratively and lead globally.
Sustainability Challenge WorkshopsHigh school students from 5 different schools collaborate in mixed school groups to solve a real-world renewable energy challenge. Past topics included designing a solar array for their school, selecting the best renewable energy mix for a general dynamics plant, and mitigating the carbon footprint at Picatinny Arsenal with a mix of wind, solar or geothermal energy.
Think Design Workshop40 middle or high school students use design thinking strategies to engage students in cognitive and motor empathy exercises. In addition, the use of virtual reality and 360 degree video tools encourages empathy and empower the students. Students have modeled mobile applications to manage food waste issues, redesigned their cafeteria to accommodate wheelchair-bound teens and coordinated cross-school mobile alerts to address issues that impact teen suicide.
