TURNAROUND, INC. IS A PRIVATE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SERVING VICTIMS OF RAPE/SEXUAL ASSAULT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND SEX TRAFFICKING. THE AGENCY PROVIDES COUNSELING, EMERGENCY SHELTER, TRANSITION HOUSING, VICTIM ADVOCACY AND SUPPORTS SERVICES TO VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES AS WELL AS INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THESE PROBLEMS.

COUNSELING PROGRAM: THE AGENCY'S MASTERS LEVEL TRAUMA THERAPISTS WORK WITH ADULT AND CHILD VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT/ABUSE AND SEX TRAFFICKING, TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND AND ADDRESS THE EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL CONSEQUENCES OF ABUSE. SURVIVORS ARE ASSISTED IN DEVELOPING COPING SKILLS TO MANAGE PAST TRAUMA AND REDUCE ITS IMPACT ON THEIR LIVES. SURVIVORS ARE GUIDED THROUGH SAFETY PLANNING AND PROVIDED WITH PSYCHO-EDUCATION ABOUT THE DYNAMICS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND OR/SEXUAL ASSAULT IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE CHANCES OF RE-VICTIMIZATION. THE THERAPISTS USE ART, PLAY, AND TRADITIONAL TALK THERAPY TO MEET THE VARYING THERAPEUTIC NEEDS OF VICTIMS.

ANTI-TRAFFICKING PROGRAM: THE ANTI-TRAFFICKING PROGRAM PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE, TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE FROM EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO ONGOING SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING AGES 12-30. EACH SURVIVOR WORKS WITH A CASE MANAGER TO IDENTIFY AND DEVELOP A GOAL AND ACTION PLAN IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: SAFE SHELTER, EDUCATION, WORK, HEALTH (MENTAL, PHYSICAL, MEDICAL) AND PERSONAL. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT SERVICES TO SURVIVORS, THE AGENCY PROVIDES TRAINING TO SERVICE PROVIDERS AND PROFESSIONALS REGARDING SEX TRAFFICKING.

VICTIM ADVOCACY PROGRAM: THE VICTIM ADVOCACY PROGRAM PROVIDES IMMEDIATE AND ONGOING SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN BOTH BALTIMORE CITY AND BALTIMORE COUNTY. ADVOCATED PROVIDE CRISIS RESPONSE, SAFETY PLANNING, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT DURING FORENSIC EXAMS TO THE VICTIM AND THEIR FAMILIES. ADVOCATES ALSO PROVIDE FOLLOW-UP AND ONGOING, OR "VERTICAL" ADVOCACY AS VICTIMS GO THROUGH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND/OR WORK TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES. ADVOCACY INCREASES VICTIMS' ACCESS TO AND ENGAGEMENT IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND DECREASES VULNERABILITY AND RISK OF FURTHER VICTIMIZATION.
